Rick Renteria didn’t even need to say a word when asked following an 8-4 White Sox victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night at Comerica Park if that effort was what he wanted to see from his offense.

The White Sox manager simply smiled and gave the thumbs-up sign.

“Yes. The answer is yes to that question,” said Renteria when pushed for a verbal reply. “We are very happy that we did what we did. We are very happy to have a couple guys back in our lineup. The guys responded well with some runs.”

Shortstop was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday’s victory, after being absent due to a strained right groin. He opened the game by drawing an eight-pitch walk off Detroit starter Tyler Alexander during a four-run first, and he scored two runs on the night.

Designated hitter had been out since Aug. 4 due to left shoulder soreness. But he also returned Tuesday and launched the 416th home run of his career, good for third on the active list.

First baseman , who left Monday’s loss with a right hip stinger, had three hits and two RBIs. And , mired in a 4-for-35 funk, launched a three-run homer to right on the first pitch he saw in the opening frame.

Jiménez, who finished with two hits and four RBIs, is now 13-for-21 in his five multihit efforts this season. But he is 1-for-38 in his 11 other games played.

“I'm just looking for a good pitch to hit and a good pitch in the zone. I got it, and I hit it,” said Jiménez of his homer. “I thought it was good on the barrel, but I never thought it's going to be a homer.

“When I was in the slump, I feel like I saw the ball good but was not hitting it to the right spot and was swinging a little bit at balls out of the zone. But now I'm just trying to see the ball and hit it where there's not people at."

The White Sox offensive outburst supported , who yielded two runs over 4 2/3 innings and came one out away from recording his first victory, and five relievers. was the most impressive of the bullpen crew, striking out four among six straight retired batters and inducing seven swings and misses, per Statcast, in his 28 pitches.

It all led to the seventh White Sox win in 10 road games and the end of their three-game losing streak. But some would say deserves a type of save for Tuesday’s victory, even though he pitched in Monday night’s loss.

After that lackluster setback, Keuchel chastised his team in a postgame meeting. He then brought that same energy to his Zoom call with media.

Based on Tuesday’s results, maybe Keuchel should address his White Sox teammates after every game.

“We all woke up today. We had a little more of a chip on our shoulder, a little more fight,” González said. “They did a great job with answering back today, the way they approached it. The entire lineup looked great. Everyone looked aggressive going out there again. Plays were being made around the horn.

“Guys were doing their job, moving runners over, it just looked like a White Sox win today. That's why it was good to see Dallas take some of that responsibility as a leader and address what he wanted to address. And today the guys answered right away.”
