White Sox announce two roster moves

WASHINGTON D.C. – Prior to today’s series finale at Washington, the Chicago White Sox returned left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day injured list, and placed right-hander Gregory Santos on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

Crochet, 24, tossed 4.0 scoreless IP with just one hit allowed and five strikeouts over his last four injury rehab games with Class AA Birmingham and Charlotte. He was placed on the injured list on June 20 (retroactive to June 17) with left shoulder inflammation.

Crochet has appeared in 10 games with the White Sox this season, going 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA (4 ER/10.0 IP) and nine strikeouts.

Santos, 24, is 2-2 with a 3.39 ERA (25 ER/66.1 IP), five saves and 66 strikeouts (8.95 SO/9.0 IP) over 60 relief outings in 2023, his first with Chicago. He ranks among the MLB rookie relief leaders this season in appearances (4th), strikeouts (5th), IP (5th) and ERA (10th).
