White Sox announce three roster moves
CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:
- Selected contract from Class AAA Charlotte (1): RHP Jonathan Cannon;
- Optioned to Charlotte (1): LHP Jared Shuster;
- Designated for Assignment (1): RHP Josimar Cousin.
Cannon, 23, is rated as the No. 9 prospect in the White Sox organization by Baseball America and No. 11 by MLB Pipeline. He is 0-0 with a 2.79 ERA (3 ER/9.2 IP) and 11 strikeouts in two starts with Charlotte this season.
Cannon, 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds has gone 6-6 with a 4.17 ERA (64 ER/138.0 IP) and 121 strikeouts in 31 games (30 starts) over three minor-league seasons. He originally was selected by the Sox in the third round of the 2022 draft out of the University of Georgia.
Cannon will wear uniform No. 48.
Shuster, 25, made two relief appearances with the White Sox after being recalled from Charlotte on April 8, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts over 6.1 IP (1.42 ERA).
Cousin, 26, has not pitched after beginning the season on the Class AA Birmingham injured list. He was signed by the Sox as a free agent on May 25, 2023.
Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster remains at 40.
