This praying mantis is pulling for Astros

October 7th, 2020

Due to COVID-19, fans are not allowed at the ALDS or NLDS this October. Human fans, that is.

There was one little fan who was able to take in the Astros' 5-2 win over the A's in Game 2 of the ALDS on Tuesday. It got in for free and had as good a seat as you'll ever see.

Had is the key word. Astros reliever Enoli Paredes quickly brushed the bug off his shoulder, terrified to see something that looked like a blade of grass with legs crawling up the side of his body.

But remember: Praying mantises have long been known to bring good fortune or good luck in this world -- other big league teams know a little bit about that.

Was swatting it away the right move? How long has it been watching and praying for the Astros? And will this game -- this game where it was rudely ejected from its field-level seat -- be the last game the Astros ever win?
