Sean Doolittle & Oakland A's partner with GovX.com on discounted A's tickets for military and first responders during 2014 season
Partnership will also feature "Salute to Service Sundays" throughout season
OAKLAND - The Oakland Athletics and GovX.com, the largest online destination exclusively for military and first responders to connect, learn and shop for discounts on premium lifestyle products and gear, today announced the launch of the first online verification ticketing service exclusive to members of the U.S. Military (active, guard, reserve, veteran and retired) and first responders, which provides specially priced A's tickets to this deserving group.
A's relief pitcher Sean Doolittle-whose father is retired from the United States Air Force and mother is active in the National Guard-has been a spokesman for the program since its inception last season.
"We're proud to offer this terrific program to our fans in military and first responder communities," he said. "This is the least we could do to express our gratitude to these men and women who sacrifice so much for our country. As a proud member of a military family, I know firsthand the dedication it takes."
In addition to the online verification program, GovX.com and the A's have partnered to bring "Salute to Service Sundays" to U.S. Military service members and first responders in the local Bay Area. This special initiative includes discounted A's tickets for all Sunday home games available only to this worthy group, along with a special recognition event sponsored by GovX.com that will include honoring a local military service member or first responder in-game at every Sunday home game.
In addition, GovX.com will be an official sponsor of this year's patriotic-themed July 3 fireworks show and, as a sincere thank you to those who serve, GovX.com will be giving an allotment of tickets to local military personnel and first responders to get out to this July 3 game.
To access the exclusive ticket discount available for all Sunday regular season home games, qualified fans can visit the Oakland A's/GovX military or first responder ticketing pages at http://mlb.mlb.com/oak/ticketing/military.jsp or http://mlb.mlb.com/oak/ticketing/first_responders.jsp. Upon selecting the desired game, users who are not already GovX.com members are directed to a simple online verification page to complete the one-time verification. From there, users proceed with their ticket selection, where the discount, ranging from 25 to 50 percent, is automatically applied. The purchased tickets can then be emailed and downloaded.
Once verified, users enjoy significant savings on sports and event ticketing and thousands of products and services offered exclusively to them. In addition to the ticket discount and recognition events, this partnership will include specials on officially licensed merchandise through the MLB.com Shop as well as MLB.TV, MLBAM's out-of-market live video streaming subscription product. To date, more than three million service men and women have access to the GovX.com online discounts, content and community.
The two-time defending American League West champion A's open regular season play at the O.co Coliseum against the Cleveland Indians on Monday, March 31, at 7:05 p.m.
