The Home Run Derby is one of the most anticipated events on the baseball calendar each year, and for good reason -- watching some of the game’s greatest sluggers launch mammoth home runs is can’t-miss television.
What’s even better? Being there in person and having a chance to catch some of those baseballs. At Citizens Bank Park, fans sitting in the outfield during the Derby tonight will have some help in that department: giant gloves.
We’ve seen giant gloves in the past -- both at the ballpark and even elsewhere, such as baseball cards. But this is something different altogether. In this case, we’re talking entire sections of the stands equipped with them.
