Irvin faced the Astros his last time out and pitched with heavy traffic throughout his 4 1/3 innings. The left-hander allowed four runs on seven hits in a loss.

Javier allowed two runs on three hits while striking out four batters in his first start of the season Friday against Oakland. He was unbeaten at Minute Maid Park last year, going 3-0 with a 2.17 ERA in six games (five starts).

Manaea struggled with the long ball his last time out, which also came against the Astros. The lefty allowed five runs on six hits, surrendering two homers in the loss.

McCullers is making first start at home before fans since July 29, 2018 -- the start before he injured his right elbow in Los Angeles. That led to Tommy John surgery and missing the ‘19 season, though he pitched in relief late in ‘18.

Montas was chased after just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Dodgers his last time out, allowing seven runs on seven hits.

Urquidy threw 101 pitches in his first start of the season Sunday in Oakland, allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. He retired 11 of the next 12 batters he faced after giving up a run and loading the bases in the first inning.

Bassitt did the best he could without his typical stuff in a loss his last time out. The right-hander worked six innings and allowed four runs on nine hits against the Dodgers.

Bumgarner will be making his third start of the year when he faces Oakland. The left-hander's last start came against the Rockies at Coors Field where he allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings.
