INTRODUCTION

The Blue Jays Baseball Academy will be traveling to Alberta from July 12 – July 17, hosting a number of youth baseball related events that include youth clinics and a MLB Pitch, Hit & Run event.

Learn more about each event and find out how to register below.

ALBERTA CLINICS

The Blue Jays Baseball Academy are hosting one day, four-hour Clinics for beginner baseball players aged 8-12.

Players rotate through drills that cover skills including: infield, outfield, hitting, throwing, agility, and baserunning. Clinic registrants will also participate in a Baseball Athletic Training station which serves as an introduction to fundamental athletic movement.

Clinics are taught by Blue Jays Baseball Academy Instructors. Academy Instructors are NCCP registered, experienced coaches, who have been trained in the ‘Blue Jays Way’ of teaching baseball to youth.

Participants receive a Blue Jays hat, t-shirt and digital baseball skills manual.

Cost: $10.00 (plus HST) per participant. This fee is non-refundable.

The Baseball Academy has moved under Jays Care Foundation, which has changed the way our donation dollars will support growing the game of baseball. As a result, a portion of proceeds from each clinic registration will be donated to Jays Care programming to cover baseball registration fees for Canadian kids facing financial barriers.

MLB PITCH HIT & RUN

We’re so excited to bring MLB’s Pitch Hit & Run to your community! It’s a free event for softball and baseball players ages 7 to 14. Your child can showcase their skills and compete against their peers. The best part? The top scorers at the Team Championship earn an all-expense paid trip for them and one guardian to the World Series (Game TBD), with the Pitch, Hit & Run Finals taking place on the same field the day after!

This is a perfect opportunity to let your child feel like a pro as they test out their Major League skills. Here’s how Pitch, Hit & Run works:

  • Pitch: Athletes are tested on the accuracy of their throw. They get five attempts to hit the strike zone from a designated pitching line. If any portion of the target is hit, it counts toward the athlete’s total points. Each time they hit the target they receive 50 points, 100 points for a bullseye.
  • Hit: Athletes hit the ball off a tee as far as possible. They can adjust the tee to their desired height, and they receive 5 tries. Each ball receives points depending on what zone it lands in -- the score is based off where it lands, not where it rolls.
  • Run: Athletes are measured to see how quickly they can run from home to first base. Each participant gets two attempts to run, and their fastest score is recorded.
  • Athletes receive an overall score, which determines if they can advance to the Team Championship.
  • Winners who go to the Team Championships are put in a pool with other Team Championship winners, and the highest scores receive an all-expense paid trip for them and one guardian to the Finals, which takes place during the MLB World Series.

An information email about the clinic is sent out roughly five days prior to the clinic date and will contain details about the clinic including when to arrive, what to bring and if necessary, details on the inclement weather plan. Receipts will be emailed to participants at least two business days after registering.

All participants are asked to bring a baseball glove, bat, helmet, baseball cleats or running shoes, and be dressed in appropriate athletic attire.
