Braves' DS roster includes 15 pitchers, Pache

ATLANTA -- As the Braves move to the next round of the postseason, they will continue to carry top prospect Cristian Pache. They will also now have the option to call upon Bryse Wilson or Huascar Ynoa, two pitchers who were placed on the Braves’ National League Division Series roster on Tuesday.

Moving from last week’s best-of-three Wild Card Series to this week’s best-of-five NLDS matchup against the Marlins, the Braves opted to increase their pitching staff from 13 to 15 members. The two additions are Wilson and Ynoa, each of whom could be a candidate to start either Game 4 or Game 5.

To create room on the 28-man roster for Wilson and Ynoa, the Braves opted to not carry catching prospect William Contreras and versatile infielder Johan Camargo, both of whom had been on the Wild Card Series roster.

Pache, baseball's No. 10 prospect as ranked by MLB Pipeline, will be available to serve as a pinch-runner and late-inning defensive replacement. His presence once again led the club to omit veteran center fielder Ender Inciarte from the roster. Inciarte hit just .190 during the regular season.

The Braves’ NLDS roster also includes Pablo Sandoval, who signed a Minor League deal after being released by the Giants in September. The 2012 World Series MVP debuted for Atlanta during the Sept. 27 regular-season finale against the Red Sox.
