Originally drafted by the Mets in the seventh round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Southern California, Duda has hit 151 home runs and compiled a .789 OPS over 898 career games. He appeared in 14 postseason games during the Mets' run to the World Series in 2015, and helped the club clinch the pennant over Chicago with a five-RBI performance in Game 4 at Wrigley Field.

This deal marks the first between the clubs since August 31, 2015, when the Braves sent OF Jonny Gomes and cash to the Royals in exchange for minor league infielder Luis Valenzuela.
