Freeman's air kisses were for ex-teammate

We could all use this kind of friendship

Freddie Freeman is a lover, not a fighter. That's proved by his reputation as one of the game's premier huggers (at least, before 2020 when social distancing wasn't so necessary).

So, it's understandable that there was confusion on Thursday afternoon before NLDS Game 3 between the Braves and Marlins. Freeman was caught by the cameras blowing some kisses and making a big heart with his hands up into the stands.

Fox Sports South assumed it was for his wife, Chelsea:

Only problem? Chelsea wasn't at the ballpark yet:

So, just who was the object of Freeman's affection? Why, none other than former teammate and current broadcaster A.J. Pierzynski. Freeman confirmed it in a text message with his wife:

These are the kinds of goals we should have for all of our friendships.

Don't worry, though. Freeman has plenty of room in his heart for his friends and family. Once Chelsea and their slugger of a son, Charlie, arrived to the park, they got their wave, too:
