Hey Johan Camargo, how did you do this?

February 7th, 2021

had himself a day in the Caribbean Series final on Saturday.

The Braves' third baseman not only homered to help lead the Dominican Republic to victory over Puerto Rico, he also made an amazing lightning-reflex play at third base to add to his highlight reel.

Playing for Águilas Cibaeñas in a championship game featuring big leaguers on both sides, Camargo crushed a home run to deep left field to tie the game against Criollos de Caguas in the fifth inning. But it was his web gem in the eighth inning that was the must-see play of the game.

Camargo handled a terrible hop off the lip of the infield grass with flair at the hot corner, shooting up his arm with only a split-second of reaction time to barehand the ground ball right in front of his face. He then calmly threw out the runner at first base.

Camargo's play helped the Dominican Republic preserve its two-run lead at the time and eventually hold on for a 4-1 win. For good measure, Camargo even made the final play of the game on a much more routine grounder to third to seal the championship.
