2020 Nellie Global Award

How will the Nellie Global Award recipient be honored?

The recipient of the Nellie Global Award will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony before the Brewers home game on June 22, 2020. The Award ceremony will include on-field acknowledgement and the opportunity for the Award recipient to throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. The Award recipient's name and photo will also be featured on the Brewers website.

All award details, including, without limitation, the exact nature and duration of the on-field acknowledgment and opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, shall be determined in the sole and absolute discretion of the Milwaukee Brewers and subject to availability.

How else will the Brewers commemorate Davey Nelson?

In connection with the Nellie Global Award program, the Brewers Community Foundation will make a $2,500 donation to Open Arms Home for Children in South Africa and to a local charity selected by Brewers Community Foundation that provides care or services to orphaned children.

Who can be nominated for the Nellie Global Award?

A nominee for the Nellie Global Award must be an individual resident of Wisconsin who, like Davey, has made a significant and meaningful contribution to a cause, program, or other effort that has impacted the lives of other people around the world in extraordinary ways. The Brewers will review all nominations and select one individual to receive the Nellie Global Award.

Who can nominate an individual for the Nellie Global Award?

Any U.S. resident (including D.C.) who is eighteen (18) years of age or older (except in the case of legal residents of certain states where the legal age is greater than eighteen (18) years of age, such legal age of majority) can nominate a qualifying Wisconsin resident 18 years of age or older for the Nellie Global Award. Self-nominations by Wisconsin residents are permitted in accordance with these guidelines.

The Brewers retain sole and absolute discretion with regard to the evaluation of nominees and the selection of the award recipient for the Nellie Global Award. If nominee does not respond accepting the award within 72 hours of a communication from the Brewers notifying the prospective award recipient, the Brewers may select a different award recipient in the Brewers' sole and absolute discretion. The Brewers may contact nominators or nominees using information provided on the nomination form, for purposes of evaluating nominees. All decisions made by the Brewers in connection with the Nellie Global Award are final, and no correspondence will be entered into relating to these decisions. The Brewers reserve the right to require potential award recipient to complete certain documentation, such as a certificate of eligibility, liability/publicity release, photo/image waiver and release, and authorization for background check, as a condition of potential selection for receipt of the Nellie Global Award.
