Miz (arm fatigue) not expected to pitch in first series after All-Star break (report)

The Brewers will continue to take things slowly with after scratching the ace right-hander from Sunday’s start due to arm fatigue.

According to a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Misiorowski is likely to resume throwing on Tuesday but is not expected to start during Milwaukee’s first series after the All-Star break, a three-game set against the Marlins at American Family Field.

The Brewers haven’t officially released probable starters for the series yet.

MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy noted Saturday that the Brewers had been mulling the idea of skipping Misiorowski’s final start before the break and perhaps also pushing back his first start after the break as a way to control his innings.

Misiorowski, who earned an All-Star selection for the second straight season, has thrown 111 innings this season, 30 1/3 innings away from the career-high total of 141 1/3 he compiled between the Majors and Minors in 2025 (playoffs included). He last started July 7, throwing 103 pitches over seven innings of three-run ball against the Cardinals.

Any workload concerns are compounded by the stress Misiorowski's elite velocity places on his arm -- he’s already thrown 670 pitches at 100 mph or faster in 2026, the most by a starting pitcher in any year during the pitch-tracking era (since ’08).

Leading MLB with a 1.62 ERA and 167 strikeouts on the year, the 24-year-old is a big reason why the Brewers are in first place in the National League Central with a 59-37 record.

His importance to Milwaukee's rotation has only grown given the recent injuries that have hit the club's staff, with Brandon Woodruff (anterior capsule injury in right shoulder) and Kyle Harrison (left forearm tightness) both going on the IL.
