The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) will open the 2019 season with a series of special pregame events before the D-backs host the Boston Red Sox this Friday at 4:10 p.m. at Chase Field.
Opening Day festivities include:
-- Wilson Defensive Team of the Year presentation to Torey Lovullo
-- Louisville Silver Slugger Award presentation to David Peralta
-- Rawlings Gold Glove Award presentations to Nick Ahmed and Zack Greinke
-- Wilson Defensive Player of the Year presentation to Greinke
-- Ceremonial first pitch by ASU Head Basketball Coach Bobby Hurley
-- National anthem sung by local country musician Austin Burke
-- Flyover by four F-35s from the 309th Fighter Squadron from Luke Air Force Base at the conclusion of the anthem
-- D-backs season ticket holders will unfurl a large American flag that will cover the majority of the outfield during the national anthem
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the Opening Day Street Festival. The Opening Day Street Festival will begin at 12:00 p.m. in front of the Gila River Hotels & Casinos Plaza along 4th Street and Jackson and will feature food trucks, D-backs inflatables, music by JJ’s Band and several other activities. D-backs pitcher Taijuan Walker will be giving fans free tacos, featuring Taijuan’s special taco recipe, out of a specially-designed food truck for an hour during the street festival to benefit Arizona Helping Hands. In lieu of payment, fans will be encouraged to donate to Helping Hands, a non-profit organization providing basic essential needs to boys and girls in foster care in Arizona. Fans can also enjoy La Terraza in the Upper Right Field Concourse before the game, which features a Latin vibe with specialized décor, live music and authentic regional food.
Game Seven Grill will open at 12:00 p.m. for fans to enjoy live grilling and outdoor seating. As fans enter the stadium, D-backs staff will hand out 40,000 2019 D-backs Magnet schedules, courtesy of Pepsi.
