
SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today that the Mariners have claimed infielder/outfielder Michael Toglia off waivers from the Reds.
The Mariners 40-man roster remains at 39 players.
Toglia (TOH-lee-uh), 28, appeared in 10 Major League games with the Reds in August before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. He was placed on the 10-day Injured List on Aug. 11 (right shoulder dislocation) and transferred to the 60-day Injured List on Sept. 4. In 97 games with Triple-A Louisville in 2026, he batted .273 (94x344) with 29 runs, 26 doubles, 1 triple, 22 home runs, 65 RBI, 4 stolen bases and 56 walks, reaching base at a .373 clip and slugging .547 (.920 OPS).
The switch-handed-hitter has appeared in parts of 5 Major League seasons with the Colorado Rockies (2022-25) and Cincinnati Reds (2026), batting .198 (195x983) with 114 runs, 44 doubles, 6 triples, 42 home runs, 109 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 103 walks with a .695 OPS in 290 career MLB games.
Toglia was born in Phoenix, AZ and attended Gig Harbor High School (Gig Harbor, WA). He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of California, Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA). Over parts of 7 minor league seasons in the Rockies and Reds organizations, he is batting .258 (498x1927) with 322 runs, 101 doubles, 11 triples, 119 home runs, 385 RBI, 26 stolen bases and 296 walks, reaching base at a .358 clip and slugging .508 (.865 OPS).
