Peoria Sports Complex is located in the heart of Peoria's P83 Entertainment District. The city's crown jewel facility is shared by the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. The complex features premier indoor and outdoor group and event areas, a spectacular children's playground and coveted shaded seating in the stadium. The stadium's burnished reputation for the best variety of food and craft beer is well-deserved and makes an afternoon at the ballpark enjoyable for fans of all ages.
Since its debut in 1994 as the first two-team spring training baseball facility, the 145-acre complex has hosted year-round player development programs for both clubs in addition to spring training and is also utilized for many public and private events throughout the year. In 2012, the City of Peoria announced the extension of lease agreements with both Major League tenants through 2034. The agreements spurred a multi-year period of renovations and upgrades to the facility.
In 2014, both clubhouses were renovated to now include over 400 personnel lockers, dining and media space, weight training rooms and hydrotherapy areas. Each new building also achieved LEED Gold certification as energy and resource efficient buildings upon completion. The 2015 spring training season marked the introduction of several stadium enhancements, including the addition of over 400 seats behind home plate and down the base lines and ADA platforms and ramps. All existing seats were replaced, including angled seats down the baselines for better views towards home plate with cup holders installed throughout the entire seating bowl. Restroom and concessions spaces were upgraded with new amenities. Two new group areas, the Pavilion on the outfield concourse and the Terrace above the third base concourse were also added to accommodate large groups. Additionally, a new 2,400-square foot Team Store was erected, the outfield concourse was widened and upgrades to the main entrance and ticket office were completed.
A third new group area, the Colonnade, made its debut during the 2016 spring training campaign with 600 additional shaded seats above it. The 3,300-square foot indoor space includes a slew of amenities such as air-conditioning, audio/visual equipment, ambient lighting, catering, private restrooms and a full-service bar. The building also connects to an outdoor private patio facing the field and can accommodate groups and events. The most recent renovation, Peoria Cove, opened in time for the 2017 spring season. The coastal-themed playground and splash pad features misting fans, a shaded concessions area and a mini baseball field.
Indeed, Peoria Sports Complex offers a spring training environment unique to the Cactus League and has earned acclaim for its amenities, fan-friendly staff and player accessibility.
