The Phillies have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman from triple-A Lehigh Valley. To make room for Hoffman on the 26-man roster, right-handed pitcher Yunior Marte was optioned to Lehigh Valley following yesterday’s game. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher James McArthur was designated for assignment.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Hoffman, 30, has gone 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA (7 ER, 9.0 IP) with 16 strikeouts to seven walks across nine appearances for the IronPigs this season. The 6-foot-5 Latham, N.Y., native was originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round (No. 9 overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft. Hoffman was signed by the Phillies as a free agent to a minor league contract on March 31, 2023.

Marte, 28, has thrown 5.0 innings across six appearances in three stints with the Phillies this season.

McArthur, 26, was selected by the Phillies in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
