Full name is Connor Sun-Han Wong...Graduated from Pearland (Texas) High School...Played baseball at the University of Houston from 2015-17...Was a three-year starter...Named to the All-American Conference First Team in 2016 as a utility player, and to the Second Team in 2017 as a catcher...Played for Yarmouth-Dennis (2015) and Bourne (2016) of the Cape Cod Baseball League...His father, Matt Maysey, was a right-handed pitcher in the SD (1985-90), MTL (1991-92), MIL (1993) and PIT (1994-95) systems...Made 23 relief appearances between the Expos (1992) and Brewers (1993).

Played 27 games for the Red Sox across 4 MLB stints...Appeared in 20 games at catcher (17 starts)... Also appeared in two games at 2B and one at 3B. Named Triple-A Worcester’s team MVP, batting .288 (93- for-323) with 20 2B, 15 HR, and 44 RBI over 81 games... Made 53 starts at catcher, 26 at DH, and one at 2B. Threw out 12 of 49 (24.5%) runners attempting to steal in the minors and three of 21 (14.3%) in the majors. Recognized by the Red Sox as the organization’s Minor League Defensive Player of the Month for May and Hitter of the Month for August. Began the season with Worcester and had a .399 OPS in his first 15 games (through 5/15), then hit .419 with a 1.026 OPS in his final 10 games in May (18-for-43). In 65 games for Worcester from 5/18-8/31, hit .316 with a .931 OPS and 41 RBI (83-for-263, 19 2B, 15 HR). Hit a walk-off double on 5/31 vs. Syracuse (10th inn.). Prior to the All-Star break, played in five games over three stints with BOS (2-for-8). Named the International League’s Player of the Month for August, batting .368 (25-for-68) with nine HR, 22 RBI, and a 1.249 OPS in 16 games. Homered in back-to-back games three times in August (8/13-14, 8/18-19, 8/30-31). Hit a season-high two HR with a season-high five RBI on 8/25 at SYR, then had four RBI the next day against the club. Recorded multiple hits in four consecutive games from 8/24-27 (11-for-20, .550 AVG)...Collected three hits in three of those contests. Had five HR and 14 RBI in his final six games with Worcester. Recalled by BOS on 9/1 and remained in the majors for the rest of the season, appearing in 22 of the Sox’ final 31 games. Hit his fist Major League HR on 9/2 vs. TEX, a two-run shot in the seventh inning that was projected to travel 439 feet.

2021

Made his ML debut...Appeared in six games (3 starts) over six stints with BOS (4-for-13, 3 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 BB)...In his three ML starts (all at catcher), Sox pitchers allowed a total of 7 ER in 26.0 IP (2.42 ERA)...Also played in 50 games with Triple-A Worcester, making 44 starts at catcher, five at DH and one at 2B...Threw out 12 of 43 (27.9%) runners attempting to steal in the minors...Also threw out the only runner attempting to steal against him in the majors...Played in eight Spring Training games, batting .222 (2-for-9) with 4 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI and 5 BB...Started the season at the Red Sox Alternate Training Site...Recalled by BOS on 6/22 and made his ML debut that day at TB...Pinch ran in the 11th inning and scored a run in a 9-5 win (see table above)...Made his first career start on 6/26 vs. NYY...Recorded a hit in his first career PA that day, a single off Jordan Montgomery with two outs in the 2nd inning...Had exactly one hit in each of his first three career ML starts...Doubled off Shohei Ohtani for his 1st career XBH on 7/6 at LAA...In a 10-game stretch for Worcester from 8/17-9/4, hit .439 with 11 RBI (18-for-41, 3 2B, 3 HR)...On 9/14 at Syracuse, went 4-for-5 with 2 HR and 3 RBI, his only multi-HR game of 2021.

Split the 2020 season between the Red Sox’ Alternate Training Site and the Taxi Squad after attending spring training as a non-roster invitee...Added to the Red Sox’ 40-man roster on 11/20/20.

2019

In 2019 between High-A Rancho Cucamonga (71 G) and Double-A Tulsa (40 G), hit .281 (119-for-423) with an .878 OPS, 24 HR, 82 RBI, 24 2B , and 7 3B. Named Texas League Player of the Week for 8/26-9/2/19. Named MiLB.com Player of the Month for August 2019 after batting .412 (40-for-97) with a 1.210 OPS, 5 2B, 9 HR, and 26 RBI in 26 games with Double-A Tulsa. Threw out all three attempted base stealers for High-A Rancho Cucamonga on 6/20/19 at Lancaster, as well as all three for Double-A Tulsa on 8/20/19 vs. Amarillo. Hit .512 (22-for-43) with 4 HR during an 11-game hitting streak with Tulsa from 8/16-27/19...Collected three hits in six of seven games from 8/24-31, including in four straight from 8/24-27. Hit safely in each of Tulsa’s 10 playoff games in 2019, batting .417 (15-for-37) with 3 HR and 11 RBI...Recorded an RBI in each of his first three playoff games...Had multiple RBI in three straight Finals games vs. Amarillo (3, 2, 2).
