ROUNDING THIRD HEADING FOR…HOME BASE
Created in 2018 in conjunction with Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, Home Base is a competitive, week-long camp for baseball and softball players who are rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors (male and female) that combines individualized athletic training with academic test preparation and life skills development. The overnight, five-day program provides holistic training through the Cincinnati Reds and the University of Cincinnati to propel student-athletes to the next level of success as SCHOLARS, ATHLETES, and LEADERS both on and off the field.
The 2019 program will take place on June 2-7, 2019. The participant application for the program is available March 1st through April 8th. Selection of about 50 participants will take place by April 15th. Orientation meetings will take place in early May.
Home Base Mentors
MOTIVATE, INSPIRE, GUIDE -become a mentor TODAY! Each Home Base participant will be formally matched with a mentor on day one of the program. These mentors will be board members, front office employees, and other Cincinnati business executives looking to inspire youth in Cincinnati. Each day, mentors and mentees will meet to craft goals and career paths and discuss individual's progress during the program. Mentors commit to attending a training session in May, dinners* with their mentees at the Reds Academy on Monday, June 3rd through Wednesday June 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., and the banquet on Friday, June 7th from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. After the program, mentors and mentees are encouraged to connect once a month for a year but there is no formalized commitment after the program.
*Meals for mentors and mentees are free as a part of the program.
