August 19th, 2019

BOSTON -- Fans who want to escape the cold weather for some Spring Training action can start planning.

The Red Sox released their spring schedule on Monday, and the first game will be the annual matchup with Northeastern on Feb. 21 at JetBlue Park.

A day later, the Sox will play their Grapefruit League opener with a home game against the Rays.

Overall, Boston will play 17 home Grapefruit League games.

The first road game of Spring Training will be in Sarasota, Fla., against the Orioles on Feb. 23.

There are two rivalry matchups on tap. The Yankees come to JetBlue Park on Feb. 29 and the squads meet at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla., on March 3.

The schedule will be heavy in matchups with the Twins and Rays, the two closest teams to the Red Sox in terms of proximity. Boston plays both of those teams five times.

The Spring Training schedule finishes with a home game and road game against the Braves on back-to-back days -- March 23 and 24. Opening Day is on March 26 in Toronto.

Game times and ticketing information for Spring Training will be announced at a later date.
