Club Recalls Left-Handed Pitcher Ryan Sherriff from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Corey Kluber on the Paternity List. To fill Kluber’s spot on the active Major League roster, the club recalled left-handed pitcher Ryan Sherriff from Triple-A Worcester.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Kluber, 37, has made nine starts for the Red Sox this season, posting a 6.26 ERA (29 ER/41.2 IP). He last pitched on May 21 in San Diego, allowing five runs (one earned) in 2.1 innings. The right-hander is 115-77 with a 3.39 ERA (613 ER/2,628.1 IP) in 265 career games (260 starts) with Cleveland (2011-19), Texas (2020), the New York Yankees (2021), Tampa Bay, (2022), and Boston (2023).

Sherriff, 33, has made two scoreless appearances for the Red Sox, allowing one hit with one walk and one strikeout over 2.0 innings against the Seattle Mariners on May 15 and 16. The left-hander has pitched in 18 games for Worcester, posting a 2.79 ERA (6 ER/19.1 IP) and .208 opponent batting average (15-for-72). Sherriff owns a 3.50 ERA (18 ER/46.1 IP) in 46 career Major League appearances with St. Louis (2017-18), Tampa Bay (2020-21), and Boston (2023).
