Has a son...At 18, had yet to sign with an MLB club and suffered a broken wrist, prompting him to quit baseball and move from his native Venezuela...The life change saw him move from Colombia to Ecuador, then Peru, where he earned money by selling beverages and desserts on the streets, cleaning car windshields at stop lights or simply asking for assistance just to be able to afford something to eat.

2025

Made one relief appearance (three IP) in his second season with Arizona...Spent most of the season with Triple-A Reno, going 1-3 with an 11.63 ERA (53 ER in 41.0 IP), 64 walks and 49 strikeouts in 21 games (eight starts)...In eight starts with Reno, went 0-3 with a 7.50 ERA (25 ER in 30.0 IP), 31 walks and 33 strikeouts...Finished the season at Double-A Amarillo, going 0-0 with a 6.43 ERA (10 ER in 14.0 IP), nine walks and 16 strikeouts in 13 relief appearances.

Named D-backs' Minor League Pitcher of the Year after combining to go 6-9 with a 3.80 ERA (44 ER in 104.1 IP), opponent .221 AVG, 47 walks and 140 strikeouts in 21 games (19 starts) with Triple- A Reno and Double-A Amarillo...Went 1-1 with a 3.81 ERA (12 ER in 28.1 IP) and 19 strikeouts in seven games (four starts) over two stints in his first season with the D-backs...Had his contract selected and made his Major League debut on July 8 vs. Braves with a quality start (1 ER in 6 IP)… struck out Ozzie Albies in the first inning for his first career strikeout...Earned his first Major League win on July 13 vs. Blue Jays with a quality start (1 ER in 6 IP)...Recalled from Reno on Sept. 12 and made his final three appearances in relief, going 0-0 with a 3.24 ERA (3 ER in 8.1 IP)…optioned on Sept. 26...Held opponents with runners in scoring position to a .188 AVG (6-for-32)/.544 OPS with four walks and 10 strikeouts...In 10 games (eight starts) with Reno, went 3-4 with a 3.22 ERA (18 ER in 50.1 IP), .246 opponent AVG (47-for-191), 18 walks and 63 strikeouts...Began the season at Amarillo before his promotion to Reno in June…in 11 starts with Amarillo, went 3-5 with a 4.33 ERA (26 ER in 54 IP), opponent .196 AVG (38-for-194), 29 and 77 strikeouts.
