Phillies legends Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino, along with Braves Hall of Fame outfielder Andruw Jones, have just learned that some of the biggest stars will be joining them at MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3.
Joining the MLBx derby -- which awards players for both home runs and defensive plays -- will be four superstars from the AUSL:
- The Carolina Blaze's Alyssa Brito, a three-time College World Series champion and two-time NFCA All-American selection, will join Team Howard.
- Tiare Jennings, the legendary University of Oklahoma slugger who helped the Sooners win four consecutive Women's College World Series titles and now lines up for the Texas Volts, joins Team Rollins.
- Jennings' Volts teammate, Rachel Garcia, will join Team Victorino. One of softball's great two-way players, Garcia won an Olympic silver medal with Team USA in Tokyo and helped lead UCLA to the 2019 Women's College World Series title.
- Finally, NiJaree Canady -- another Volts player and the 2026 AUSL second overall pick -- will join Team Jones. One of the best young pitchers in the game, Canaday was named one of Time Magazine's most influential people in sports in 2026.
"This partnership gives our athletes an incredible opportunity to showcase their skills on one of the biggest stages in baseball," AUSL commissioner Kim Ng said. "MLBx is an exciting format that highlights athleticism, power and defensive excellence, and we're thrilled to have some of AUSL's top players taking part in Philadelphia."
For those who haven’t seen MLBx before, it’s a 3-on-3, high-energy, co-ed competition where players need to bash homers at the plate and rob them in the field. Each player will have one two-minute at-bat during a three-inning game, while the opposing team will set up their three players in the outfield. Teams earn a point for each home run and a point for each catch. Bonus points can be earned by hitting balls through a center-field target placed above the outfield fence or calling for a hot streak of five swings where offensive and defensive points count double. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins.
These four teams will then face off head to head across two semifinals before a championship round. The third and final player for each team will be announced soon.
In addition to MLBx, AUSL will also have a presence in the "Command the Circle" fan activation at All-Star Village. Fans will have the chance to test their ability in an interactive pitching cage, explore displays featuring all six AUSL teams and take photos with player cutouts and more.
