Astros Summer Enrichment Camp

The Houston Astros are hosting a weeklong summer enrichment camp at Daikin Park from Monday, July 14 - Friday, July 18. This camp combines the excitement of baseball with hands-on STEM education. Designed for young learners ages 7-12, the camp goes beyond the basics of the game to teach important lessons in teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking. Through engaging activities and guided instruction from Astros staff, participants will build confidence, communication skills, and a deeper appreciation for the game of baseball. The camp also includes special tours and guest speakers, making it a fun and enriching experience for every young fan.

Each child enrolled will receive a camp shirt and mementos throughout the week.

Curriculum

The Lesson/Activity Sessions will be a mixture of classroom lessons and other ballpark activities. Ballpark activities will include an Educational Tour of Daikin Park, Photo Scavenger Hunt, a visit from Orbit, and conducting mock press conferences. Classroom lessons include General Baseball (Baseball 101), Baseball Math, Baseball Geography, Health and Nutrition, Informative Writing/Sports Journalism, Ballpark Engineering and Technology of Baseball, Civil Rights in Baseball History, and Baseball in Pop Culture.

Astros front office staff will speak to the campers during several Career Day Sessions. Staff members from across the organization will discuss their day-to-day jobs and how they got into the sports industry.

Price

Cost is $850 per student.

Time

The camp will operate Monday – Friday from 8:45 AM until 3:15 PM. All students must be dropped-off at Daikin Park by 8:30 AM and picked-up before 3:30 PM. There are no late pick-up options available. Missed days cannot be made up or refunded.

Food and Drinks

Adequate water and lunches will be provided. Lunches will rotate daily between Chicken Tender Boxed Meals, Hot Dog Boxed Meals, and Pizza. Other than bottled water, no outside food or beverage is allowed into the ballpark. Exceptions may be made for students with food allergies. Please be sure to indicate on the Emergency Procedure Card if your child has any food allergies.

Uniform

There is no required uniform for the camp; however, we would like the students to wear their official camp t-shirt on Tuesday, July 15, and Friday, July 18. On the other days of the camp, Astros gear is encouraged, however not required. Soft-soled, closed-toes shoes are required. No cleats are permitted. Please keep in mind parts of the camp include outdoor and walking activities. Please dress your child in weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.

Location

The camp will take place at Daikin Park, located at 501 Crawford Street, Houston, TX 77002. The pick-up and drop-off location each day will be at Union Station which is located at 501 Crawford St.

  • To enroll your child in the Astros Summer Enrichment Camp, please complete the enrollment form below in its entirety. Fill out the information requested throughout the form, listing all applicable medical information and any allergies (including food allergies). Parent/guardian’s MUST also submit a notarized Emergency Procedure Card in addition to the digital enrollment submission. The Emergency Procedure Card form can be found below, once notarized it MUST be brought to the first day of camp OR emailed to tourstaff@astros.com.
