HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have agreed to a two-year contract with All-Star outfielder George Springer, General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. 
With the agreement, the Astros and Springer avoided an arbitration hearing. An All-Star starter in 2017, Springer, 28, reached highs in several offensive categories while helping to lead the Astros to their first World Series title in franchise history. 
For the regular season, Springer hit .283 with 34 home runs, 85 RBI and 112 runs scored while posting a .522 slugging percentage and an .889 OPS. In the Fall Classic, he really shined, hitting .371 (11x29) with five home runs and seven RBI while posting a 1.471 OPS to earn World Series MVP honors. 
His eight extra-base hits (three doubles and five home runs) and 29 total bases are World Series records. Springer also earned his first Silver Slugger Award in 2017. Additionally, his nine leadoff homers in the regular season set a new franchise record and his 112 runs scored ranked tied for second in the AL. Springer's .996 fielding percentage in 131 games in the outfield ranked third in the AL. 
Springer has played in four Major League seasons (2014-17), all with the Astros.
