Friday's top prospect performers

July 17th, 2021

Here's a look at Friday's top Minor League performers from each team's Top 30 Prospects list:

Yankees: Jasson Dominguez, OF (MLB No. 24), Low-A Tampa
Estevan Florial, OF (No. 10), Triple-A
Through all the hype and excitement, Dominguez has been on fire since he arrived in Tampa. The 18-year-old launched the first home run of his professional career in the Tarpons’ 13-4 shellacking of Lakeland. Serving as the designated hitter and leading off, The Martian went 2-for-4 with a single, two RBIs, two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout. Dominguez has recorded a hit in each of the four games he’s played for Tampa, and has tallied multiple hits in three. In Low-A, the super prospect is slashing .438/.471/.813 with a 1.283 OPS.

Florial set the pace atop the lineup for the RailRiders in their 7-2 victory over Worcester. The 23-year-old slugged solo shots in the third and the eighth innings in a 2-for-5 day. Both home runs easily cleared the 22-foot-high Worcester Wall at Polar Park. With 12 jacks on the year, Florial is now one behind the career-high he set in 2017. With eight total bases, the lefty increased his OPS to .726. Yankees prospect stats »

Athletics: Austin Beck, OF (No. 17), High-A Lansing
It’s been a challenging season to date for Beck, who has dealt with injuries and first-half struggles, but he’s proven his bat has plenty of pop in it with a power surge in July. In Friday’s 13-9 loss to Lake County, the 2017 Draft’s sixth-overall pick recorded his first three-hit game of the season, smashed his fifth dinger, drove in four runs, scored twice and walked. Beck has split time between High-A Lansing and Triple-A Las Vegas this season, and in 30 games across both levels he carries a .669 OPS. In nine July games, the 22-year-old has hit four homers with 10 RBIs. Athletics prospect stats »

Blue Jays: Orelvis Martinez, SS (No. 7), Low-A Dunedin
Martinez continued his hot July with his second four-hit game over his past three contests in Dunedin’s 15-10 extra-inning win. The 19-year-old smacked his 12th homer and added two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored to his final line. In July, the shortstop has crushed five homers, hit three doubles and driven in nine runs in 13 games, rocking a .333/.429/.762 slash line with a 1.191 OPS. Blue Jays prospect stats »

Dodgers: Bobby Miller, RHP (No. 5), High-A Great Lakes
It was a shame the rain suspended the contest between Great Lakes and Dayton, because Miller was absolutely cruising. The Dodgers’ 2020 first-round pick struck out six over three innings of three-hit ball before inclement weather cut his outing short. Two of the three hits came in the second inning, where a single and a throwing error advanced the runner to third, and another single in the next at-bat drove in Dayton’s first run of the game. Miller then struck out the next two to end the inning and fanned two of the three batters he faced in the third. The 6-foot-5 Louisville product is pitching to a 2.29 ERA in his first Minor League season with 46 strikeouts through 12 appearances. Dodgers prospect stats »

Mariners: Zach DeLoach, OF (No. 11), High-A Everett
It took DeLoach about a month to adjust to Minor League pitching, and ever since the beginning of July, all he can do is hit. The 2020 second-rounder recorded his sixth multihit effort in 12 games, this time going 3-for-4 with two homers (the first multihomer game of his career), a double, three RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. The 22-year-old has now hit in six straight games and is slashing .313/.400/.533 with nine homers, 36 RBIs, 31 walks, 22 doubles and 75 hits through 56 games. His .933 OPS is good for third overall in the West and his .313 average and 22 doubles rank second. Mariners prospect stats »

Marlins: Lewin Díaz, 1B (No. 6), Triple-A Jacksonville
Díaz has shown the capability to hit for prodigious power throughout his career, and he regained his stroke in July. The 24-year-old slugger launched two homers for the first time this season in a 3-for-5, five-RBI day. He tacked on a double and scored two runs in Jacksonville’s 9-4 win. Since July 6, Díaz has swatted six dingers and gone 8-for-29 with 19 RBIs in eight games. On the year, he has 14 long balls at Triple-A, and is sporting an .854 OPS. Marlins prospect stats »

Mets: Mark Vientos, 3B (No. 8), Double-A Binghamton
Both of Vientos’ hits left the yard in Binghamton’s 7-1 win on Friday as the 21-year-old continues to add to his career-high home run total -- he now has 16 through 49 games. Vientos added a walk and two RBIs to his 2-for-4 night at the plate, raising his season average to .282 and his OPS to .973. The 2017 second-rounder now has four multihit efforts in his last 10 games. Mets prospect stats »

Phillies: Luis García, SS (No. 5), Low-A Clearwater
Ethan Lindow, LHP (No. 22), High-A Jersey Shore

García extended his hit streak to five games in exciting fashion, crushing two home runs in a game for the second time this season en route to a 3-for-6, four-RBI day at the plate. The 20-year-old added a double to his performance, giving him 21 extra-base hits (11 doubles, seven homers, three triples) and 26 RBIs through 61 games this season.

Lindow tossed five scoreless frames of one-hit ball in relief, finishing out the final innings for Jersey Shore in its 5-1 loss. The 2017 fifth-round Draft pick worked around a pair of walks and struck out three in his outing, lowering his High-A ERA to 2.89 with 31 strikeouts through 37 1/3 innings (seven appearances). Rangers: Justin Foscue, 2B (No. 5), High-A Hickory
Foscue, along with the rest of Hickory’s offense, exploded at the plate in the Crawdads’ 20-2 demolition of Aberdeen. The 2020 first-rounder went 4-for-6, clubbed two homers and two doubles and drove in a career-high seven runs, while also scoring four. His four extra-base knocks also marked a career-high. Foscue has been red-hot in July, homering in each of his past five games. In four games since returning to Hickory from a rehab assignment on July 11, Foscue has gone 10-for-18 with five homers, four doubles and 10 RBIs. Rangers prospect stats »

Rays: Seth Johnson, RHP (No. 13), Low-A Charleston
Johnson bounced back from a rough outing his last time out, this time striking out six over five frames of three-hit ball. The only run he allowed was unearned. Johnson brought his ERA down to 3.86 on the season, and the 2019 Draft pick has struck out 55 across 49 innings. Rays prospect stats »

Rockies: Michael Toglia, 1B (No. 3), High-A Spokane
Toglia teed off for a 3-for-4 night at the plate with a homer, double, two runs scored and three RBIs, giving him hits in five straight contests. The 2019 first-rounder (19th overall) drove in a run with every hit: first with a double in his first at-bat of the game, then with a solo homer in the fifth and finally a single as part of a seven-run sixth for Spokane. It’s the third game this year and sixth of his career that Toglia has recorded multiple extra-base hits in a game. Rockies prospect stats »

Royals: Noah Murdock, RHP (No. 15), High-A Quad Cities
Murdock hurled 5 2/3 scoreless innings en route to a 5-1 victory for Quad Cities on Friday night. The 6-foot-8 right-hander scattered three hits and two walks over his outing, lowering his season ERA to 3.38. In six appearances (five starts), the 2019 seventh-rounder has hurled 21 1/3 innings with 18 strikeouts to five walks, and is let to allow an opposing hitter to leave the yard. Royals prospect stats »
