OAKLAND, Calif. – ­­­­The Oakland A’s traded Minor League outfielder Mark Payton to the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced today. Payton was selected by the Reds in the 2019 Rule 5 Draft but was returned to the Oakland organization July 21.

Payton was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the seventh round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft and was acquired by Oakland in the minor league portion of the 2018 Rule 5 Draft. He batted .334 with 30 home runs and 97 RBIs in 118 games with Triple-A Las Vegas last year and hit .273 with four RBIs in 14 games for the Reds this spring.
