Blue Jays extend deal with Double-A New Hampshire

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays have extended their player-development contract with Double-A New Hampshire through the 2016 season.

The two-year agreement was officially announced by both organizations through a prepared statement on Tuesday afternoon. The original deal was set to expire at the end of the 2014 season, but it will now last for at least the next three years.

New Hampshire has been affiliated with the Blue Jays since their arrival in Manchester 10 years ago. During the past decade, the Fisher Cats have won two Eastern League titles and have seen 67 players advance to the Major Leagues.

"We are thrilled to extend our agreement with the Fisher Cats organization," said Charlie Wilson, who is the Blue Jays' director of Minor League operations.

"Art Solomon [Fisher Cats owner] and Rick Brenner [Fisher Cats President] operate a first-class organization, which is reflected in the passionate fan base and quality facilities. Our players are fortunate to benefit from the professional atmosphere in Manchester."

The Fisher Cats are the longest running non-club owned affiliate in the Blue Jays organization.

"This is always an easy and enjoyable process when we extend our relationship with the Blue Jays," Solomon said. "Toronto is a first-class organization and has consistently provided our fans with first-rate prospects and high-character players who embrace their time in our ballpark and community. We look forward to the next three seasons and the prospects of additional Eastern League titles to come."
