Williams to interview for Blue Jays' managerial job
Williams has been a part of Arizona's coaching staff for three years, serving as the D-backs' first-base coach in 2010 before spending the last two seasons as the third-base coach. The 46-year-old is currently managing the Salt River Rafters in the Arizona Fall League and has also drawn interest from the Rockies about their open managerial position.
Toronto has not announced any sort of formal timeline when it will officially replace John Farrell, who was hired by the Red Sox on Oct. 20. Early reports had Sandy Alomar Jr., DeMarlo Hale, Tim Wallach and possibly Manny Acta as the leading candidates to become the Blue Jays' new skipper.
Williams was part of the D-backs' broadcast team from 2005-09. He was a five-time All-Star during his 17-year playing career in San Francisco, Cleveland and Arizona.
