Braves Set 2012 Opening Day Roster

Club set to open campaign at New York on Thursday

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves today officially set their 25-man roster for opening day. Right-handed pitcher Tim Hudson was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 3, as he continues his recovery from back surgery performed in November.

The Braves open the 2012 campaign – their 47th in Atlanta – tomorrow (Thursday, April 5) at the New York Mets (1:10 p.m. ET, SportSouth).

The season-opening roster includes 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and five outfielders:

PITCHERS (12): Brandon Beachy (RH), Randall Delgado (RH), Chad Durbin (RH), Tommy Hanson (RH), Livan Hernandez (RH), Jair Jurrjens (RH), Craig Kimbrel (RH), Cristhian Martinez (RH), Kris Medlen (RH), Mike Minor (LH), Eric O’Flaherty (LH) and Jonny Venters (LH)

CATCHERS (2): Brian McCann and David Ross

INFIELDERS (6): Juan Francisco, Freddie Freeman, Eric Hinske, Tyler Pastornicky, Dan Uggla and Jack Wilson

OUTFIELDERS (5): Michael Bourn, Jose Constanza, Matt Diaz, Jason Heyward and Martin Prado
