SAN FRANCISCO -- Braves third baseman Johan Camargo exited in the third inning of Tuesday night's 4-1 win against the Giants with left groin tightness.
After hitting one to the right side of the infield and reaching on an Austin Slater error, Camargo pulled up lame and stretched his left groin area. Following a short visit by manager Brian Snitker and a team athletic trainer, Charlie Culberson entered as a pinch-runner and remained in the game at third base. Culberson went on to hit a two-run homer to highlight Atlanta's attack.
Snitker said he plans to hold Camargo out of Wednesday's matinee to give him two days off coupled with Thursday's off-day. Camargo will test out the injury Friday but sounded optimistic he'll be back in the starting lineup for that evening's series opener against the Nationals.
"To be honest, to me it felt like more of a cramp or charley horse than anything else, something that I had never really felt before," Camargo said through team interpreter Franco Garcia. "Didn't feel anything serious."
Camargo missed the first 16 games of the season after suffering an oblique injury late in Spring Training. The 24-year-old also missed time last year after hurting his knee while running out to the field in a freak accident.
Camargo belted three homers and drove in five runs during the first five games of this current road trip through Arizona and San Francisco.
