Braves Probable Pitchers

Nola is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA in his past three starts. He has been nothing short of spectacular, racking up 30 strikeouts in 21 innings and allowing just eight hits, two runs and three walks in that span.

Fried has strengthened his NL Cy Young Award candidacy by not allowing a run over his past 2 starts (11 1/3 IP). He limited the Phils to 4 hits over 5 scoreless innings on Aug. 9. He hasn't given up a run over the first 4 innings of his 2020 starts.

Wheeler has given the Phillies a dynamic 1-2 punch atop the rotation alongside Aaron Nola. Wheeler is pitching efficiently and deep into games, inducing weak contact early in the count.

Erlin will get another start after tossing four scoreless innings in Sunday's win against the Marlins. The lefty made a pair of relief appearances for the Pirates before being designated for assignment earlier this year.

Eflin hopes to bounce back after struggling in his last start Tuesday against the Red Sox. Eflin is throwing his sinker more than ever. He is also getting more strikeouts and swings and misses, too.

Tomlin gets a second start after limiting the Nationals to two runs over four innings on Tuesday. He threw a season-high 51 pitches. He'll likely aim to complete at least five innings to possibly keep a spot in the rotation.

Cole is coming off a 10-strikeout effort against the Red Sox and has won 20 consecutive regular season decisions dating to last May, tied for the third-longest streak in history. He is undefeated in 28 starts since May 27, 2019, going 20-0 with a 1.97 ERA over that span.

Anderson, the Braves' No. 3-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline, will be making his Major League debut. He was the third overall pick in the 2016 Draft.

Tanaka struggled over four-plus innings in his previous start, tagged with the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits (including two homers) to the Rays. Tanaka said that his mechanics were out of sync, something he'll aim to clean up.

Fried hasn't allowed more than a run in any of his past five starts, and opponents have hit just .188 against him this year. The lefty has relied more heavily on his slider, a pitch he developed before the start of his breakout 2019 season. He has a 2.92 ERA in 18 home starts over the past two seasons.
