Phillies Acquire Left-Handed Pitcher Benony Robles From Dodgers

The Phillies have acquired left-handed pitcher Benony Robles from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Connor Brogdon.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Robles, 23, pitched in 33 games (1 start) last season for single-A Great Lakes and posted a 3.86 ERA (14 ER, 32.2 IP). He struck out 53 batters and averaged 14.6 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched. Of the 137 batters he faced, he struck out 38.7% of them.

Over five minor league seasons, Robles had posted a 4.67 ERA (130 ER, 250.2 IP) with 277 strikeouts and 134 walks allowed in 99 games (37 starts).

Born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, Robles was originally signed by the Dodgers as an amateur free agent on July 3, 2017.

Brogdon, 29, made three appearances for the Phillies this season and allowed six earned runs over 2.0 innings. He made 142 appearances (2 starts) for the Phillies over five seasons and posted a 3.88 ERA (62 ER, 144.0 IP).

Brogdon was designated for assignment by the Phillies on April 2.
