CINCINNATI -- Reds center fielder Dane Myers has become known for giving up his body to crash into walls to make a play -- including earlier this season on June 29 in Milwaukee. But on Friday night against the Brewers, Myers reached above the wall instead and made a great catch.
In the top of the second inning at Great American Ball Park, Milwaukee had a rally going and had already scored two runs. With two outs and David Hamilton on third base after an RBI triple against Rhett Lowder made it a 2-1 game, Sal Frelick launched a drive to right-center field.
Myers made a long run and timed his jump perfectly above the wall to take away a possible home run -- and at minimum, extra bases -- away from Frelick for the third out. In appreciation, Lowder raised both arms in the air.
According to Statcast, the drive would have been a homer in only four of 30 ballparks. Myers made extra sure that GABP wouldn't have been a fifth.
