CINCINNATI -- Reds second baseman exited Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to the Indians at Great American Ball Park because of a bruised left quadriceps muscle, the club said.

Moustakas, who was 0-for-2 with two strikeouts, was replaced defensively by at the top of the sixth inning. It was not clear how or when the injury occurred.

“It’s a little bit unknown,” said Reds manager David Bell. “It started bothering him last night, and then he did everything he needed to do to get into the lineup today, got treatment on it and everything. He thought everything was good to go, and as the game went on, it continued to bother him, so he’s going to get it checked out [om Wednesday].”

On Sunday, Moustakas had to miss the second game of a doubleheader at Detroit after he was hit on the left forearm by a Tyler Alexander pitch in Game 1.

Moustakas, who also missed three days on the injured list because he was in the COVID-19 health and safety protocol after not feeling well, is batting .238/.333/.524 with two homers and six RBIs in seven games.
