DENVER -- Center fielder/second baseman Nick Senzel and corner infielder Mike Moustakas were not in the starting lineup for the Reds' contest against the Rockies at Coors Field on Saturday night. Both players sustained heel contusions over the first two games of the series in Colorado.

Senzel was scheduled to do some on-field work prior to the game, and manager David Bell said that Senzel probably could've started if he had to, but that he would be available off the bench. Senzel is expected back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

With Moustakas, Bell said that it's more of a wait-and-see situation.

"Moose is a little better than expected today, but we still don't know exactly what we're looking at," Bell said. "So he's gonna get out and move around [and we'll see]."

Senzel sustained the contusion to his left heel when he was chasing a fly ball to right-center field off the bat of Connor Joe in the first inning Thursday and hit the base of the wall with his foot. Moustakas left Friday's game early with the same injury as Senzel, after it appeared that he got tangled up with Joe at the first-base bag while attempting to leg out an infield hit in the third. Moustakas remained in the game until the fifth, when he was lifted as part of a double-switch.

It was the second injury in as many days for Moustakas, who crashed into the wall down the first-base line chasing a foul popup in the fourth inning of Thursday's game, hurting his right shoulder. The issue was minor enough that he was back in the starting lineup Friday.
