Bombing victim Daniel delivers game ball to mound

Fenway offers standing ovation as Ortiz assists 31-year-old amputee

BOSTON -- Mery Daniel, who lost her left leg during the Boston Marathon bombings, delivered the game ball to the Fenway Park mound Thursday for the Red Sox's game against the Rangers.

Daniel, 31, was in a wheelchair and helped to the mound by David Ortiz. The crowd gave her a standing ovation, cheering loudly as she delivered the ball.

While she delivered the ball to the mound, the center-field scoreboard showed a quote of hers.

"How we all came together that day, that's what was important to me," it read. "Not the evil part of it, but the best of us."

Ortiz gave her a hug and posed for a couple of pictures with her after she left the field.
