Red Sox add reliever Cook at Deadline
The Red Sox have acquired reliever Ryan Cook from the A's in a Trade Deadline deal that will send a player to be named later or cash to Oakland.
CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman was first to report the deal on Friday, and MLB.com's Ian Browne confirmed the trade and the terms.
Cook, 28, has spent the last four seasons as a late-innings reliever in Oakland and was an All-Star in 2012. In limited action this year, he's allowed five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings spanning four outings.
