The Detroit Tigers Foundation, in partnership with Playworks Michigan, hosted a vibrant Fiesta Tigres celebration at Amelia Earhart Elementary-Middle School in Detroit’s historic Mexicantown. More than 900 students (K–8) connected directly with Tigers staff, volunteers, and Playworks staff through games and activities designed to celebrate Hispanic/Latinx culture, youth wellness, and community connection. With 63% of Earhart’s students identifying as Hispanic/Latinx, the event created authentic ties between the Tigers and the community, honoring the Latinx community’s impact on Detroit baseball while making the game more accessible, inspiring, and inclusive for the next generation.
