Astros set 2013 Opening Day Roster

Seven players make debut on Opening Day roster

The Houston Astros have set their 2013 Opening Day 25-man roster, General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today. In order to set the active roster at 25, the team had to make three transactions today.

Houston officially purchased the contracts of outfielder Rick Ankiel, left-handed pitcher Erik Bedard and right-handed pitcher Edgar Gonzalez.

After today's transactions the Astros 40-man roster is now full at 40.

SEVEN PLAYERS TO MAKE DEBUT ON ACTIVE OPENING DAY ROSTER

Seven Astros players will make their debut on an active Opening Day roster tonight, a list that includes outfielder Brandon Barnes, outfielder Chris Carter, left-handed pitcher Xavier Cedeno, catcher Carlos Corporan, infielder Matt Dominguez, outfielder Justin Maxwell and right-handed pitcher Brad Peacock.
