In April 2020, we sought to help our communities stricken by the Covid-19 pandemic. What began as an idea to provide a few hundred meals per week from a food truck to support hunger relief initiatives blossomed into a full-scale food service and meal prep operation, distributing thousands of pounds of food originally purchased for home games to meet the most urgent needs in our communities.
Today, the Atlanta Braves and Chick-fil-A® team up with community organizations to continue to care for Braves Country by providing free, quality food resources. Through the Home Plate Project presented by Chick-fil- A®, tens of thousands of pounds of fresh produce, frozen foods and protein, and hot meals are distributed to families across Metro Atlanta each year.
Locations are selected using the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Child Well-Being Index, which determines areas of greatest need for children and families. Distributions are open to all neighbors, and resources are provided completely free of charge.
Home Plate Project Community Impact
Since 2024, the Braves, Chick-fil-A, and community partners have provided an estimated 188,840 pounds of fresh produce, frozen foods, hot meals, and shelf-stable goods through Home Plate Project mobile food distributions. This program has served 10 counties and an estimated 21,200 individuals and 5,250 households.
