Braves top prospect Caminiti continues stingy stretch, spins six scoreless

July 5th, 2026

Cam Caminiti seems to be finding his rhythm at High-A.

The Braves' No. 1 prospect delivered his best start of the season as he tossed six shutout innings, working around three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in High-A Rome’s 2-0 win against Jersey Shore at ShoreTown Ballpark. Sunday's start marked just the second time this season Caminiti has tossed six-plus innings.

MLB’s No. 44 prospect did well to weave out of trouble against the BlueClaws offense. Caminiti escaped a two-on, one-out jam in the second by inducing a pop out, then flashing his 60-grade fastball for an inning-ending strikeout. In the sixth, the 19-year-old pitched his way out of a bases-loaded one-out situation by fanning Devin Saltiban (PHI No. 20) and getting Brandon Lewis to ground out to second.

After posting a 5.16 ERA in his first 10 outings (9 starts) of the year, Caminiti appears to have turned a corner. Over his past five starts, the Scottsdale, Arizona native sports an stingy 1.96 ERA with 24 strikeouts, while opposing batters are hitting just .148 against him.

Going to his four-seamer about half the time this season, Caminiti has racked up 68 strikeouts against 32 walks. MLB's No. 7 left-hand pitching prospect has held opposing batters to a .220 average, which ranks fifth in the Braves farm system.

Caminiti has developed into a ground-ball pitcher since the Braves selected him with the 24 overall pick in 2024. Coming into the start against Jersey Shore, the southpaw owned a 51.8 percent ground ball rate in 2026, which ranks fifth among High-A pitchers with a minimum of 60 innings pitched, per FanGraphs.
