The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to terms with INF Wilmer Flores on a 1-year contract with a team option for 2020. To make room for Flores on the roster, the D-backs designated LHP Jared Miller for assignment. The D-backs' 40-man roster is at 40.

Flores, 27, appeared in 126 games with the Mets in 2018, playing 83 at first base (73 starts), 13 at second base (6) and 10 at third base (9). He set career highs with 25 doubles and 29 walks, while batting .267 AVG/.319 OBP/.417 SLG with 11 home runs and 51 RBI.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder hit 10 of his 11 homers and posted a .804 OPS off right-handers last season and, in his career, owns a .780 OPS vs. lefties. Flores also achieved a career-best 10.21 plate appearance per strikeout rate in 2018, the fourth-lowest mark in the Majors behind Andrelton Simmons/LAA (13.64), Michael Brantley/CLE (10.52) and Victor Martinez/DET (10.37) [min. 400 PA].

Additionally, Flores led the Majors with 4 walk-off RBI in 2018, and his 10 walk-off RBI are the most in all of baseball since 2014 and the most in Mets history, 1 more than David Wright (9).

Flores, who played in 13 postseason games in 2015, was the only Met to record 10+ home runs in each of the last 4 seasons, and is 1 of 6 Mets to have at least 4 double-digit homer seasons by age 26 or younger (also: David Wright [6x], Darryl Strawberry [6x], Ed Kranepool [6x], Edgardo Alfonzo [4x] and John Milner [4x]).

In 6 seasons with the Mets (2013-18), Flores hit .262 AVG/.303 OBP/.424 SLG with 96 doubles, 2 triples, 68 home runs, 253 RBI in 581 games. He totaled 162 games at shortstop, 143 games at third base, 139 at first base and 101 at second base.

The Valencia, Venezuela, native signed with the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on August 6, 2007.

Miller, 25, combined to go 1-3 with a 6.94 ERA (37 ER in 48.0 IP), 59 strikeouts and 67 walks in 44 appearances between Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Reno in 2018.
