Lovullo pulls Peralta to rest sore shoulder

May 22nd, 2019

SAN DIEGO -- Left fielder exited the D-backs’ 3-2 loss to the Padres on Tuesday night at Petco Park in the middle of the fifth inning.

Manager Torey Lovullo said he pulled Peralta after two at-bats because he saw signs the outfielder is still bothered by the right shoulder soreness that flared up last week. Peralta struck out in his two at-bats Tuesday.

Peralta left a game last Wednesday because of right trapezoid discomfort and aggravated the issue with a defensive dive on Friday.

“It’s still that little area that’s lingering,” Lovullo said. “The dive the other day, I think, compounded things. He’ll be day to day. Hopefully he feels good tomorrow, and we’ll see how it goes from there.”

Peralta is batting .309 with an .881 OPS and seven home runs, but he has only two hits in his last 15 at-bats.
