The Phanatic About Reading program presented by Xfinity is a free program that encourages students in grades Pre-K through 8 to read or be read to for a minimum of 15 minutes a day to improve their literacy skills.
Incentives are provided and top performing classrooms, based on teacher feedback, have a chance to receive a special experience with the Phanatic. Additionally, the most improved and most outstanding readers in the program are recognized during Phanatic About Reading Night prior to a Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park. Towards the end of the school year, completion certificates are shared with teachers to distribute to their students.
Upon registration, teachers will receive a bookmark for each of their students, a book and poster for their classroom and an optional reading log.
Program guidelines for registered teachers:
1. Encourage your students to read or be read to for at least 15 minutes per day.
2. Display the Phanatic About Reading poster in your classroom, distribute the Phanatic About Reading bookmarks to each student enrolled and read the Phanatic’s book to your students.
3. Distribute the reading log to track how often your students are reading. The reading log is optional and to be used at your discretion. Reading logs do not need to be returned to the Phillies.
4. Enter Phanatic About Reading contests offered during the school year. Submissions assist the Phillies in selecting schools and students for special experiences. Information will be sent during the school year with details about the contests.
