Phillies Baseball Carpenter Cup Semi-Final Games
On Sunday, June 19, the semi-final games of the 36th Phillies Baseball Carpenter Cup presented by Nike were held at Citizens Bank Park, giving the top four high school all-star teams in the tri-state area the chance to play ball on a major league field.
Inter-Ac/Independents took on Tri-Cape and Burlington County played against Mercer County, with Tri-Cape and Burlington County advancing to the championship game, which will be played on Monday, June 20.
The tournament, recognized nationally as one of the best competitions for high school baseball players, gives athletes the chance to play ball in front of major league and/or college scouts. The event has also been a catalyst for many players to receive scholarships and admission to some of the country’s finest universities. More than 400 high school players take part in the tournament each year, with many going on to become major leaguers.
