Phillies Salute to Service presented by Toyota

On Wednesday, September 8, the Phillies and Toyota hosted a press conference to announce details for Saturday’s “Phillies Salute to Service presented by Toyota,” commemorating the 20th anniversary of September 11th.

A special remembrance ceremony will take place before Saturday’s 6:05 p.m. game against the Colorado Rockies that will be held to pay tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11, as well as show support of the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides free services to veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness or wound while serving in the military on or after September 11, 2001.

Wall of Famer Larry Bowa, former manager of the 2001 Phillies, will reflect on the first game played at Veterans Stadium following the September 11th tragedies (which was on September 17, 2001).

Toyota’s Paul Muller, with help from the Phillie Phanatic, will present Wounded Warrior Project with a $5,000 donation in support of its invaluable services to veterans and service members.
