A 1970 La Salle graduate with a degree in marketing, Dunphy was an outstanding player under Explorers' head coach Tom Gola. As a junior, he helped the Explorers to a 23-1 record. He served as a co-captain his senior year when he averaged 18.6 ppg and led the team in assists, while also being named the MVP of the annual Quaker City Basketball Tournament. In 1979, he earned a master’s degree in counseling and human relations from Villanova University.
One of the most respected coaches in the nation, Dunphy has coached eight Conference Players of the Year, three Conference Rookies of the Year, five perfect Conference seasons and 56 All-Conference honorees. The all-time winningest coach in Philadelphia Big 5 history, Dunphy is one of 25 active NCAA Division I coaches with 500 victories. A part of Big 5 Basketball for the last six decades, Dunphy was inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame in April 2019. He also received the John Wanamaker Award in June 2019 and was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame on November 7, 2019.
An educator on and off the court, Dunphy has previously taught in Temple University’s Fox School of Business. He previously has served as a lecturer in the Wharton Executive Education program and in the management department of the Wharton School.
Salvatore DeAngelis is currently the Vice President of Operations/Security for the Philadelphia Phillies, a position he has held since 2012. DeAngelis joined the Phillies as a game-day usher in 1994 and eventually transitioned into a full-time role in 1999. Under his tenure he has planned and executed such high-profile events as the closing of Veterans Stadium, numerous MLB playoff games, the 2008 and 2009 World Series, the 2008 World Series parade, the 2012 NHL Winter Classic, annual sold-out concerts, and ancillary events surrounding the 2016 Democratic National Convention. DeAngelis was also the 2015 recipient of the “Industry Leader Under 40 Award.” In 2019 Citizens Bank Park received the “Facility of Merit for Safety and Security Award.” More recently, DeAngelis was the named “Professional of the Year.” All three awards were given by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4).
DeAngelis partakes in constant communication with law enforcement agencies at the local and state levels, as well as with the Department of Homeland Security, United States Secret Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Phillies’ SAFETY Act application efforts began in late-2015 and they were awarded “Designation” in April 2019.
Moonlighting as an adjunct professor, DeAngelis has taught at Holy Family University (2001 – 2017), Drexel University (2008 – 2017) and Temple University (2006 – 2007) where he has lectured at both the undergraduate and graduate levels on sport facility management and event planning. In 2012 he published a chapter for the textbook “Distribution Decisions in Sport Marketing.”
DeAngelis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BA in Management-Marketing from Holy Family College (1999) and his M.Ed. in Sports and Recreation Administration from Temple University (2002). He currently lives in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
As a child, Kristen experienced significant trauma, including her mother attempting and completing suicide. When she reached her preteen years, Kristen didn’t know how to manage what she was feeling and turned to alcohol, drugs, and self-harm to mask the pain that she so desperately wanted to keep locked away. The alternative was facing the issues related to her childhood trauma and she did not know how to do that. As a result of this she suffered with debilitating depression and anxiety that affected her in her everyday life. She continued these negative coping skills, including negative self-talk, which drove her down to a very dark place. Quickly, she arrived to a bottom she thought she would never leave.
After going to treatment, where she learned how to replace her negative coping skills with positive ones, she worked hard to incorporate those habits into her life. Kristen attended a recovery high school to finish her education and went on to college. She has many therapy experiences that have proven to be wildly successful and attends support groups regularly to maintain her ongoing sobriety and abstinence from negative coping skills. Kristen, being a young person in recovery, proves it’s never too late or too early to get the help you need. She has spoken on panels and at board meetings to help educate others in an effective manner break the stigma around mental health and substance use disorder.
As Phillies Ambassador, Scott is involved in various aspects of the club, including fan engagement and Phillies Charities, Inc. He also can be found at the podium, hosting news conferences and other special events for the organization.
In 2016, Scott was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, which honors the lifetime sports contributions of Pennsylvanians. Scott is also a proud member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia.
Prior to joining the Phillies in 2005, Scott was an anchor and sportscaster at WPVI-6ABC in Philadelphia for over 24 years.
Dr. James is the founder and CEO of George Talks, LLC, a communication and consulting company. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist, executive coach, corporate & media consultant, relationship & parenting expert, and mental health ambassador. In addition, he is an Assistant Professor for the Couple and Family Therapy Program at Thomas Jefferson University. He has spoken and consulted with multiple businesses, media production companies, organizations, universities, and places of faith.
Dr. James has been a recurring expert guest on radio, television, podcasts, and online programs including The TODAY Show (12+ appearances), CBS Mornings, CNBC, Nickelodeon, NBC News Daily, NBC News Now, Home & Family (Hallmark), Good Day LA, Good Day Philadelphia, iHeartradio, and many others. He is the host of LEAPCAST podcast where he speaks with Leaders, Entertainers, Athletes & Performers. He works extensively with professional athletes, entertainers, adult men and women, executives, couples, and young adult men on various issues, including adulting, career, anxiety, work-life balance, love life, leadership, parenting, depression, and communication.
Dr. James has done extensive consulting work (including script & project review, facilitation of difficult conversations, content & resource development, advice on mental health, relationships, parenting, family, race/culture, and the intersection of these topics) with companies including Paramount Global (Nickelodeon/Nick Jr), Google, Wavelength Productions, and others.
Dr. James attended Villanova University as a Presidential Scholar where he met his wife, Candace. They are parents to their creative & inspiring children, Nalani, and Alexander.
