Jennings has not started since leaving the game on Sept. 22 against the Orioles with a tight left hamstring. He is 1-for-2 as a pinch-hitter since then.
Jennings noted that he had no idea that his situation would linger and he does not have a gut feeling on when he might be ready to play again in the outfield.
"But I'm trying," Jennings said.
Jennings has continued to work out with head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield and has been seen jogging, but he has not been able to go full throttle. Rays manager Joe Maddon did not know when, or if, Jennings would be ready to play the outfield, again adding that Jennings was "about 70 or 80 percent."
Maddon did say the possibility existed that Jennings could be used at DH.
